City Vets Ravenhill Road is part of City Vets, an independent veterinary practice established in 2007 with multiple branches. Recent reviews show a split experience: some owners describe smooth ongoing care and a good retail area (“large store with plenty stock”), while others report problems with follow-up, communication, and not being present during consultations (owners being asked to hand pets over to staff), including one account of a delayed planned hernia operation and another of an appointment not being recorded.

No follow-up regarding my dogs planned hernia operation despite me contacting them on several occasions to find out what the delay was about. Prescribed parrifin to soften his stools and recommended hernia operation AND castration (he is 10yrs) at the same time. This was back in early December and since then I had to bring him to Vetsnow emergency just before Christmas. I will be reporting them for lack of duty of care and also claiming for the expenses that bringing him to the emergency vets has cost me. Furthermore, when I brought him in for his vaccine the incompetent female vet injected the oral vaccine subcutaneously which put him at a risk of a serious adverse effect and may have effected his liver function. Having brought him to the emergency vets, I was told by them that they would have let my current vets (Belfast City Vets, Ravenhill Road) aware that he had been seen by them, but they didn't have the professionalism, decency or courtesy to follow this up with me. I WOULD AVOID.

I have always taken my pets to city vets Ravenhill Road but when I moved to Comber I thought I would save time and take my cat to vets in Comber big mistake I didn't find them caring I thought they were rude ( not the reception staff they were very nice ) but I'm not sure if the lady I dealt with was a vet or a nurse but all I can say is I definitely won't be back. I won't be changing from City vets Ravenhill Road again all the staff there are really nice and caring

Been with City Vets for years & have always been satisfied with the service provided until recently when I attended thier Shore Road branch . A nurse weighed.my dog as usual & asked what Arthur's problem was. So far so good. She told me the vet will him shortly. About 5 minutes passed and the nurse reappeared and said she would take Arthur to see the vet. Strange I thought that I wasn't asked to accompany him. Anyway I let it go. When she reappeared with Arthur after the consultation she started to convey what the vet had said. The reception area was busy & nosey and it was difficult to hear and concentrate on what she was telling me. Fast forward a couple of days. I rang the Ravenhill Road branch which is my local one & enquired was this not accompanying your dog to see the vet a new policy to b e told that if the head vet had a lot of patients to see then yes that would be the policy. Unbelievable. Will be leaving the practice on Monday unfortunately as I need to be with my dog when seeing a vet. I have never heard the like of it before. Sorry City Vets you have lost a long time costumer

I brought my cat in for an aggression issue. They forgot to write down my appointment and had to rush to see my cat. I was not asked to come into the consultation room for some reason. Therefore, I did not have the time to give any information about my cat. The vet came back announcing that they found the issue: he's blind. I knew that, he was born blind, I could've mentioned it if given more than one minute to explain the issue. I don't know exactly what was performed during this health check, but when I asked if his weight was healthy, I was told they didn't weigh him. I was charged 30 pounds for nothing, except for being told to keep the lights on at home.

After taking my bengal kitten here for 1 year I decided to seek a second opinion on her medical problem. I emailed and called the veterinary practice to ask for her medical history to be forwarded to the vet who would having a look at her. When the medical history wasn't received as told to me by the vet this morning i phoned city vets ravenhill to simply ask why it hadn't been sent and by no means was I rude I was just enquiring.. The nasty abrupt attitude I got from the receptionist Rachael this morning was abhorrent! She was the rudest angriest nastiest person i think I have ever endured and she also banged the phone down mid-way through the end of the conversation. Rachel, the enquiry regarding cleo's medical history bieng sent to another veterinary practice was only a "question" not a personal attack and if I was your employer and you were the first point of contact at my business you wouldn't be after your aggressive combative tone on the phone this morning. Disgraceful behaviour will never bring my pet here again. Avoid this place.

Worst vets please never take any animals to this place. My miniature dachshund was due his yearly vaccination and took severe allergic reaction I was not told this could happen no information was given at time of vaccine. On our way home my 1year old miniature dachshund was severely sick then his eyes a face a neck started to swell very bad very quick. When I phoned the vet they asked me to take a photo and email it to them. I was not happy with that and insisted I bring my dog back. They had an attitude like well this can happen. But I was not informed about anything like this they Monitored him for half an hour and was willing to send him home with me. I asked could he die and they could not guarantee that he wouldn’t. I then insisted on them giving him another injection to counteract the vaccine, they give him. The girl that was bringing my dog out had no clue about anything she was saying and the actual male veterinarian that was working with my dog didn’t even bother to come out and talk with me. Very unprofessional behaviour from all staff. I will be taking my issue further as I’m absolutely disgusted with the way they handled the situation. Please stay away from city vet keep your animals safe.

My yorkie timmy was gravely ill with gastroenteritis,he's 15 and epileptic, the vets helped him recover from this and is on the mend.they also listen to us as we know how to care for him, and they worked with us. And the vet fees were fantastic and low compared to other vertanary services. Thanks to the practice our timmy is doing so well.thank you team.
